When you install Office 2024 Pro Plus, you get six desktop apps:

Two familiar names are missing. Microsoft Publisher is not part of Office LTSC 2024, because Microsoft is retiring Publisher after October 2026. Microsoft Teams is not preinstalled either, and is a separate free download.

Office LTSC 2024 follows Microsoft’s Fixed Lifecycle Policy, which means a set support period announced in advance. It began on September 18, 2024, and Microsoft lists its end of support as October 9, 2029.

Ten minutes of preparation is cheaper than an afternoon spent wondering why Word thinks it belongs to someone else. Check these points before you install Office 2024 Pro Plus:

Your Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents stay where they are. Uninstalling Office removes programs, not files in Documents or OneDrive.

Step 4: Download the Office 2024 Pro Plus Installer

4. Choose the files with “standard” in the name only if you bought Office 2024 Standard.

The setup file is small, about 3.4 MB, because the Office files are fetched during installation. That is why the PC needs to stay online until setup finishes.

IMPORTANT: Never use pre-activated or modified Office ISOs from unofficial sites. They often include altered activation files or malware, and they can prevent a genuine key from activating.

Step 5: Run Setup and Install Office 2024 Pro Plus

Now you can install Office 2024 Pro Plus itself:

1. Right-click the downloaded .exe file and choose Run as administrator.
2. Select Yes when User Account Control asks for permission.
3. Wait while the installer downloads and installs the Office apps.
4. Select Close when setup reports that Office is installed.

Installation usually takes 10 to 30 minutes, depending on your connection. The progress window can look as if it is thinking deeply about life at around 90 percent, which is normal.

Replace the X characters with your key, and replace the folder path if the dir command showed a different one. On 32-bit Office running on 64-bit Windows, search %ProgramFiles(x86)% instead.

For online activation keys, activation normally happens a few seconds after you enter the key. Office contacts Microsoft’s activation servers and confirms the license.

Microsoft notes that Multiple Activation Key (MAK) activation, the method used by many volume keys, needs internet connectivity. Make sure no firewall, VPN or proxy is blocking Office from reaching Microsoft.

If Office shows a message saying the key can no longer be activated online, do not keep retrying. Online activation counts are limited, and the phone method in the next step is the intended fallback.

Step 8: Activate Office 2024 Pro Plus by Phone

Phone activation keys, and online keys that have reached their online limit, activate by exchanging two codes. The Installation ID is a long number that represents your key and PC. The Confirmation ID is the answer code that completes activation.

1. Open Word. When the Microsoft Office Activation Wizard appears, choose I want to activate the software by telephone and select Next.
2. Select your country or region to display the Installation ID.
3. Copy the Installation ID exactly as shown.
4. Get a Confirmation ID from Microsoft’s automated phone line or the Bcdkey Get Confirmation ID tool.
5. Enter the Confirmation ID in the boxes at the bottom of the wizard.
6. Select Next and wait for the success message.

If the wizard does not open, use the command line instead. These commands display the Installation ID and then apply your Confirmation ID:

Enter the Confirmation ID without spaces or dashes when using /actcid. Then run cscript ospp.vbs /act if the status does not change.

Do not assume activation worked because no error appeared. Check it in two places.
